Image Uploads[edit source]
If I try to upload an image for testing purposes, I encounter an error message preventing me from uploading it, specifically, "Could not open lock file for "mwstore://local-backend/local-public/8/81/(imagename)". Make sure your upload directory is configured correctly and your web server has permission to write to that directory. See https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Manual:$wgUploadDirectory for more information." Can this message be troubleshooted? Justarandomamerican (talk) 16:27, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
- I have also had the same error message but thought it was probably my device. X (talk) 16:30, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
- Can this be fixed? It has been about a month and still no image uploads. ✖ - (Talk • Contributions) 13:24, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
Extension Request[edit source]
Can mw:Extension:StructuredDiscussions be installed for testing purposes? Thanks, Justarandomamerican (talk) 23:30, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
Pending changes extension[edit source]
Is it possible to have the pending changes extension installed. Thanks, Zippybonzo (talk) 10:19, 10 April 2023 (UTC)
- I agree that this would be nice to test on. ✖ - (Talk • Contributions) 13:53, 10 April 2023 (UTC)
Thanks Extension[edit source]
Could the Thanks extension be installed? ✖ - (Talk • Contributions) 12:04, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- Support It's quite good for acknowledging helpful edits by others. Zippybonzo (talk) 18:29, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
Favicon request[edit source]
If you get a chance, can you add our logo to the favicon, so it isn't just the default one @Matttestzh:. ✖ - (Talk • Contributions) 12:26, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
Request for 2 extensions[edit source]
Can the DismissableSiteNotice extension and Scribunto, the extension that enables Lua modules be added for convenience purposes? Thanks! Justarandomamerican (talk) 22:48, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
Protect site and report extention[edit source]
Could this and this be installed? I would really help with vandalism attacks if they occur, and obviously for testing. It can be kind of dangerous, so I recommend only stewards can use protect site. ✖ - (Talk • Contributions) 17:25, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
- ProtectSite is a little pointless, as the only protection levels are registered users/admins and most active users are admins, so it's only really good for protecting against account creation spam. Zippybonzo (talk) 16:29, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- True… ✖ - (Talk • Contributions) 17:09, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
Usergroups extension[edit source]
Please install this. ✖ - (Talk • Contributions) 11:30, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
- I would agree to this, as it makes it easy for Stewards to do simple user group configuration changes in case they need access to something, or if there is community consensus. Restrict it to Stewards and SysAdmins, though, as it can configure CU access, etc. Justarandomamerican (talk) 15:04, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
- Note: This extension may not be fully working/bug free based upon testing of the extension on a MediaWiki environment running MediaWiki 1.39.3, PHP 8.1.2, MySQL 8.0.33, ICU 70.1 Lua 5.1.5 and Pygments 2.11.2. Zippybonzo (talk) 10:23, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- I have also tested this extension, but it worked fine for me. ✖ - (Talk • Contributions) 11:26, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- Could you go to Special:Version and give time the software versions to allow me to check for possible issues with versions on this wiki. Thanks, Zippybonzo (talk) 12:42, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- MediaWiki 1.39.3
- PHP 7.4.8 (apache2handler)

- Should be compatible. Zippybonzo (talk) 13:31, 30 May 2023 (UTC)

- Note Should be limited to sysadmins only as it allows addition of editrights and siteadmin. Zippybonzo (talk) 13:31, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- I disagree. Stewards should be allowed to use the tool to make minor changes to user rights following community consensus. Our one system admin is semi-active and may not be able to make needed changes right away. ✖ - (Talk • Contributions) 13:36, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, but if a steward wants to cause chaos they can just lock the database then. Zippybonzo (talk) 15:09, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- All of our stewards are highly trustworthy. I am confident that Justa, Matttestzh, and I would never do that, without reason of course. To be honest, if any of the stewards wanted to cause chaos, they could have done it already. Also, it is fairly easy to lock, and more importantly, unlock the database. Our stewards are trustworthy enough for this. The community chose them, after all. ✖ - (Talk • Contributions) 15:20, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- Another option is to just delete the database lock file entirely, which solves the issue of the database locking. Zippybonzo (talk) 16:22, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- If a Steward locks the database without valid reason, that would probably be a good enough reason for their rights to be removed by a System Administrator or another Steward with community review taking place after the fact. I do not understand how they would possibly get elected, though: Every one of our stewards are trusted cross wiki. Someone can't really get elected without it, anyways: the tools are so sensitive that cross wiki trust is practically required, lest there be pile on opposes. Requesting a simple change in configuration[edit source]
Hello, please add the following to LocalSettings: $wgGroupPermissions['steward']['checkuser-log'] = true; so that Stewards can view the CheckUser log as necessary. Justarandomamerican (talk) 00:18, 16 May 2023 (UTC)

Recent outages[edit source]
We have recently had many long outages where the site cannot be accessed. This may discourage new users who want to request permissions. These outages usually last from 12-24 hours and are very annoying. It appears to be an issue with our host MYHT. Could we maybe switch hosting providers or change something else to prevent outages. I have heard good things about infinityfree hosting. Just a thought. ✖ - (Talk • Contributions) 03:55, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
- Support a host switch, if Matttestzh could, self hosting would be good, because it’s faster from my experience. Also myht is so slow to publish edits. Zippybonzo (talk) 05:41, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
- I think we are not going to switch to another hosting service for now unless I have gotten enough funds for self-hosting. As I am currently one of the sysadmins of MYHT, I have direct SSH access to this server. In case of outage, please contact me by email so I can reboot the server ASAP. I am going to host a fundraising campaign by the end of the year and I’ll see if we can get enough funds to host our own server and domain name. -Matttestzh (talk) 07:18, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
- I will email you if the wiki goes down again. Could you install the user groups extension, I feel we could really use it right now. ✖ - (Talk • Contributions) 15:08, 28 May 2023 (UTC)

Requesting additional protection level[edit source]
Please add interface admin protection to protect sensitive interface pages to interface admins. Thanks, Zippybonzo (talk) 10:10, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
